Aurrum Kincumber residents enjoy their therapeutic robotic seal – PARO . PARO provides the benefit of animal therapy to be experienced by residents in all our Care Homes across Aurrum. The lovable seal creates a feeling of well-being and motivation, whilst reducing anxiousness and stress related emotions.
PARO has five kinds of sensors: tactile, light, audition, temperature, and posture sensors, with which it can perceive people and its environment. Paro has the ability to feel when he is being stroked and being held. PARO can also recognise the direction of voice and words such as his name, greetings, and praises with its audio sensor. By interaction with people, PARO responds as if it is alive, moving its head and legs, whilst making sounds. PARO also imitates the voice of a real baby harp seal which our residents find soothing and relaxing.
