Inspired by one of our core values to create a fulfilling and enriching environment for residents, in February this year, we launched the Aurrum ‘REMEMBER’ dementia program at our Healesville aged care residence residence in Victoria.
As part of the program, Aurrum commissioned local photographer and Aurrum care staff member Sylvi Kreinberg to freely capture residents at the home.
The work resulted in the ‘I’m Still Here’ collection of photographs, which are now on permanent display in the residence’s 32-bed Memory Support dementia unit.
Aurrum Healesville General Manager Kathleen Collings said the photographs have bought much joy and pleasure to residents and their families.
‘The exhibition is a reminder that no matter where life’s journey takes us, the soul and personality will always remain. Everyone has a story and everyone deserves to be seen and heard.’
Lifestyle Co-ordinator Jennifer Inchley says the environment at Healesville has been enhanced by the dementia program, which encourages residents’ independence by applying Montessori methods to promote engagement, motor skills and cognitive function.
